Status
The nature of a species' occurrence in a particular area. It denotes the frequency with which the bird is found, usually described vaguely by such terms as 'common' or 'scarce', and the seasonality of its use of the area, the bird being called a resident, summer visitor, winter visitor or passage migrant, as appropriate. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
