Ringing recovery

A ringed bird killed or found dead and reported to the ringing authorities in the country where the bird was ringed. If it is caught alive by a ringer, the details on the ring noted and the bird subsequently released, it is said to be a 'control'. If the bird is caught soon after ringing at the same place where it was ringed, it is called a 'retrap'.
