Habitat
The kind of place where an organism lives. Habitats can be classified at various scales, for example woodland or tree trunks, and can be divided and subdivided, for example, coniferous woodland, forestry plantations, pine forest or Scots pine stands. The term 'biotope' means more or less the same as 'habitat', although it tends to refer to the larger-scale habitats such as moorland or sea coast.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
