Bob-White Quail (Northern Bobwhite)

Colinus virginianus

These little North American gamebirds have been introduced for shooting many times in Britain (and at least once in Ireland) with success lasting no more than 20 years. Two populations (Scilly and Suffolk coast) were breeding at the time of the first Breeding Atlas but there were only records from one 10-km square during the second.
