Black-Winged Stilt

Himantopus himantopus

UK ConservationBlank Face

Breeding, some successful, recorded in Nottinghamshire (1945: 3 pairs), Gwent (early 1950s), Cambridgeshire (1983), Norfolk (1987) and Cheshire (1993). Sammy, a lone male, has haunted Titchwell (Norfolk) for several years. They could turn up, probably in East Anglia, any time!
