Suet

A very valuable form of fat which can be fed to birds in lumps on a hanging wooden skewer as well as being offered in more obvious ways. Siskins seem to prefer suet to be somewhat "ripe", so perhaps it could be left for a while for their benefit. It can also be used as the basis of bird cakes, mixed with other ingredients such as sunflower seed and cereals.
