Sparrowhawks

Unlike domestic cats, birds of prey are native predators, and though their attacks on garden birds may be upsetting, they have a right to be there and are beautiful and interesting birds in themselves. Sparrowhawks are the main aerial predators occurring in gardens. As their hunting method involves rapid flight through or along cover and then a sudden surprise appearance, siting of feeding stations well away from trees, hedges and other such features might reduce, though it is unlikely to stop, their forays.
