Shorelark (Horned Lark)

Eremophila alpestris

Blank Face

This attractive species flirted with breeding in Scotland, high in the mountains, for a few years and there is one recent record (1997) of a pair hinting of breeding. Between 1972 and 1977 singing birds or pairs were found in the same locality and breeding was proved in 1977 when there was another singing bird at a second site.
