Great Bustard

Otis tarda

Extinct in Britain about 160 years ago, an attempt at re-introduction to Salisbury Plain failed some years ago. One remaining male from this attempt was still at Whipsnade Zoo in 1998. Further re-introductions to Wiltshire are planned.
