Request for Ph. D. Thesis Summaries
Bird On! Diary
22nd May 1996
The amount of research relevant to birds going on all over the world is remarkable. Much of this is being undertaken by university students working toward their doctorates. Technically, doctorate theses are published but unfortunately many are not found in accessible journals, or are only published in part, or are published many years later.
As a service to the birding community, Bird-On! is seeking summaries of Ph. D. theses on birds from all over the world to publish in our pages.
As a start, we shall be including summaries that have already been carried in Ibis - the Journal of the British Ornithologists' Union - but we hope to get many more.
We ask all University Departments where Ph.D.'s on birds have been awarded to send us summaries to enable us to bring them to a wide audience through Bird On!. We believe that some hundreds are awarded each year.
