Windows

A major hazard for garden birds, windows cause injuries and often death when flying birds collide with the panes of glass. House windows, especially picture windows and patio doors, together with the glass in conservatories and greenhouses, are dangerous either because the birds think that there is a clear way through, or as a result of the victims seeing a reflection of the garden in the glass. Some sort of obstruction might help, such as net curtains or a climbing plant, and self-adhesive silhouettes of birds of prey can be stuck on the glass to discourage birds from approaching. For treatment of casualties see sick and injured birds.
