Events

Probably the most important annual event in Britain for people interested in birds is the British Birdwatching Fair, held at Rutland Water Nature Reserve in the East Midlands over three days in mid-August. The BBWF is attended by firms supplying all kinds of bird equipment along with organisations involved in the study and conservation of birds and other wildlife. There are similar, though smaller, fairs in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Other events at which products such as feeders, foods for birds and nest boxes may be seen and purchased include the annual members' weekends of the Royal Society for The Protection of Birds (RSPB) in March and the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) in December, together with various flower shows and other events for gardeners. A successful new venture is National Nest Box Week, beginning on St. Valentine's Day each year.
