Bird Cake

A mass of fat, usually based on beef or lamb suet, with additional ingredients such as sunflower seed, flour or granules of peanuts, maize and nuts. A bird cake can be entirely home-made, bought as a mixture and then made up, or purchased as a finished product. If it is moulded into a bell shape, it can be hung up for the benefit of birds such as tits, Nuthatches and even woodpeckers.
