Sponsored birdwatch
A money-raising venture in which sponsors promise to pay a certain amount for each species which a birdwatcher records during a specified period. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds , for example, now organises such events.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
