Skin
A specimen which has been preserved by the methods used in taxidermy. If a museum skin is not made up into a mounted specimen for display, it will be stored for reference by ornithologists interested in such topics as moult or taxonomy.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
