Sea watching
The practice of carefully scanning the sea with binoculars or a telescope to spot birds on the water or flying past well out from shore, either to look for a rarity or to count the commoner birds. Good seawatching points are promontories such as Portland Bill (Dorset) and Flamborough Head (North Humberside). From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
