Rodent run
The practice of fleeing from a potential predator by crouching and running with head down through ground vegetation, an action suggesting a mammal rather than a bird. The rodent run is characteristic of ground-living groups such as the gallinaceous birds.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
