Register of Ornithological Sites
The data collected during a survey organised between 1973 and 1977 by the British Trust For Ornithology to document those places in Britain which are important for birds. Its purpose is to provide a factual basis for advising planning authorities and landowners should any listed site become threatened by land use changes. The data consist of a description of each site together with a list of its birds, their approximate numbers and their use of the site for breeding or otherwise. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
