Pectoral girdle

The ring of bones which gives rigidity to the thorax and provides support for the wings. The bones concerned are (on each side) the 'scapula' ('shoulder blade'), 'coracoid' and the 'clavicle' ('collar bone'). The two clavicles are fused to form the 'furcula' ('wishbone').
