Mortality

Death, or the number of deaths. In the study of population dynamics the 'mortality rate' is of great significance. High mortality of birds can result from an outbreak of disease such as botulism, from adverse weather conditions such as frost or gales, and from man-made causes such as pollution or deliberate control.
