Mist net
A lightweight fine net mounted on poles and stretched across such a place as a woodland ride to catch small birds. The birds fly into the net, which is very difficult to see against a background of bushes and trees, and become entangled. Its portability and effectiveness account for the wide use of the mist net for catching birds for ringing. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
