Mist net

A lightweight fine net mounted on poles and stretched across such a place as a woodland ride to catch small birds. The birds fly into the net, which is very difficult to see against a background of bushes and trees, and become entangled. Its portability and effectiveness account for the wide use of the mist net for catching birds for ringing.
