Hood
A mass of colour covering most or all of the head, as in the dark chocolate-brown example of the Black-headed Gull Larus ridibundus in breeding plumage. There is some overlap between the use of the terms hood and cap.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
