Dabbling duck

A duck (family Anatidae) which does not normally dive for food, but obtains it by picking it from the water surface ('dabbling'), by surface dipping or by upending. Dabbling ducks consist essentially of the members of the tribe Anatini, for example the Teal Anas crecca and the Mallard A. platyrhynchos.
