Biomass
The weight of living matter. For a particular place where its estimation has been possible, a figure may be quoted for the bird biomass, and it may be expressed as a percentage of the total animal biomass. Likewise, figures for individual species can be related to the total bird biomass. Such data may be more useful than percentages based on population, as biomass takes into account differences in the sizes of the various species.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
