Bergmann's Rule
The contention that individuals of a warm-blooded animal species increase in size the further from the Equator they occur. This is perhaps an adaptation to reduce heat loss, as large animals lose heat more slowly than small ones.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
