Predator

An animal which feeds on other animals, taking them as live prey. In practice, among birds, the term is chiefly used with reference to a raptor, owl (order Strigiformes) or some other carnivorous type, but insectivorous kinds are, in fact, no less predatory than the carnivores. 'Predation' is the activity of predators.
