Predator
An animal which feeds on other animals, taking them as live prey. In practice, among birds, the term is chiefly used with reference to a raptor, owl (order Strigiformes) or some other carnivorous type, but insectivorous kinds are, in fact, no less predatory than the carnivores. 'Predation' is the activity of predators. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
