Phalanx
A section of a digit of the hand or foot, namely a part of a finger or toe. In birds the fingers scarcely exist, and their phalanges are mainly fused. The foot, however, is usually well developed, with a hallux or 'hind toe' and the forward-pointing inner toe, middle toe and outer toe. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
