Partial migrant

A species in which some individuals are resident but others are involved in migration over varying distances. Many common species in the British Isles are partial migrants, for example the Meadow Pipit Anthus pratensis, which is partly a resident, partly a summer visitor, partly a winter visitor and partly a passage migrant.
