Oesophagus
The tube along which food passes between the mouth and the stomach, also called the 'gullet'. It is part of the alimentary system. Some birds, for example the various types of raptor, have gullets which can greatly expand, thus enabling very large food items to be swallowed. The crop is an extension of the oesophagus. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
