Neck collar
A brightly coloured ring fitted round the neck so that the bird can be recognised as belonging to the marked population and its movements can be followed. The neck collar is a method of marking which is more suitable for large birds with long necks, such as geese (family Anatidae). From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
