Council for Environmental Conservation
An organisation founded in 1969 to bring together nature conservation societies and to promote their common interests. In 1979 it took over the functions of the Council for Nature, which had been founded in 1958 to act as an 'umbrella' body for British natural history societies. CoEnCo has continued to publish the Council for Nature's monthly bulletin, 'Habitat'.From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
