Central focusing

The system of altering the focus of a pair of binoculars by turning a centrally placed wheel or drum which focuses each eyepiece simultaneously. The alternative arrangement, '(independent) eyepiece focusing', involves turning each eyepiece separately and is seldom found in modern instruments.
