Brood parasite

A bird which does not build a nest of its own but instead lays its eggs in the nests of birds of other species. The only example breeding in the British Isles is the Cuckoo Cuculus canorus, its most frequent 'hosts' or 'dupes' being the Meadow Pipit Anthus pratensis and the Dunnock Prunella modularis.
