Broad
A shallow lake formed in a depression caused by mediaeval peat digging. Broads are mainly found in north-east Norfolk, UK, and despite disturbance by holidaymakers are of great importance for wetland birds, notably the Bittern Botaurus stellaris and the Bearded Tit Panurus biarmicus. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
